When the members of Genesis reunite next month at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Peter Gabriel won’t be by their side. Rock Hall president Joel Peresman announced yesterday that Gabriel will not attend the event on March 15th in New York, the AP reports. The news confirms what Gabriel told Rolling Stone last month — that he was skeptical about performing with his old bandmates.
“I learned at our last reunion [in 1982] that you can’t just get up there. You have to rehearse,” Gabriel said, noting that he is also in the midst of rehearsing for his own European tour. Still, he had promised RS, “I’m trying to find a way to do it. It’s not easy. If I can work it out, I’ll go.”
The Rock Hall ceremony may be one of the last opportunities for a full Genesis reunion, as Gabriel told RS, “Phil [Collins] has had trouble with his wrists and his back, so it’s pretty unlikely” that the band will reform in the near future.
