Chris Brown Talks Rihanna on “Larry King”: “It’s One of the Worst Moments of My Life”

Clips of Chris Brown’s first public interview since his altercation with Rihanna hit the Web earlier this week, and the singer’s full conversation with CNN’s Larry King aired last night on Larry King Live. During the broadcast, Brown reiterated his regret, but refused to discuss what happened the night of February 8th. The interview did shed light on how the assault and his subsequent guilty plea have affected Brown and his mother Joyce Hawkins, who was brought to tears several times throughout the hour-long show.

King confronted Brown with the photograph depicting a battered Rihanna that leaked on TMZ days after the assault. “I didn’t know what to think at the time. I was like what, like, because at the time, I just didn’t know honestly what to think,” Brown said. “And I didn’t know if the pictures were altered. I didn’t know if they were real. I didn’t know what. So I was just like, ‘Man, I just felt so disappointed in myself.’ ” Brown added that he both still loves and is still in love with Rihanna.

The interview also revealed how close Rihanna and Brown were before the incident. Hawkins told King that when she called Rihanna, the “Umbrella” singer would call her “Mom,” which Hawkins said Rihanna still calls her when the two talk. A protective order prevents Brown from communicating or being within 100 yards of Rihanna, but he told King that before the order came into effect he had spoken to Rihanna and apologized. Brown also denied that two prior domestic violence incidents prior to February 8th had happened, though the denial was more of a declaration that he was never charged with the alleged overseas skirmishes.
