Jane’s Addiction Debut Duff McKagan at Perry Farrell’s Birthday Party

Jane’s Addiction played their first concert with new bassist Duff McKagan Tuesday night at Perry Farrell’s 51st birthday party at Los Angeles’ Les Deux, JanesAddiction.org reports. It’s still unclear what songs the new formation of Jane’s performed — as you can see in the video above, the first order of business was to rock a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.” The performance will likely go down as the first of many with Duff, as Jane’s Addiction are plotting a world tour following the winter 2011 release of their next album, according to the band’s reps.

As Rolling Stone previously reported, after months of rumors, guitarist Dave Navarro all but confirmed McKagan had joined Jane’s Addiction by posting a photo of the former Guns n’ Roses bassist working in the studio with Navarro, Farrell and drummer Stephen Perkins. News of the addition of McKagan came just under a month shy of original bassist Eric Avery’s announcement that he was leaving Jane’s after reuniting with the group two years ago following a 17-year split from the band.

The live debut implies McKagan is now officially a member of Jane’s Addiction and not just a hired hand for studio sessions. Last night, Rolling Stone received a press release welcoming McKagan as the newest member of Jane’s, and if anyone still needed more evidence, Navarro confirmed on his Dark Matter podcast last night that Duff is now a member of Jane’s, Jane’sAddition.org reports.
