Kid Cudi Parties With Drake in “Pursuit of Happiness” Video

The new video for Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness,” the rapper’s Man on the Moon: The End of Day collaboration with rockers MGMT and Ratatat, leaked today — and was swiftly pulled off video sites (RS will post a copy when it becomes available again). All that big talent, but the biggest name involved in the clip is actually actor Josh Hartnett, who produced. Brody Baker, whose video for Animal Collective’s “My Girls” caught Cudi’s eye, directed the spot, which is essentially just a night in the party-filled life of Cudi, with some cool slow-motion techniques thrown in for good measure.

Apparently neither MGMT nor Ratatat received an invitation to the party, but Artist to Watch Drake shows up and assists Cudi in splashing down a pack of unsuspecting female friends with champagne. “We were just kicking it. When you see the video, it just makes me feel good, because I’m seeing all my friends and people that matter in my life,” Cudi told MTV. “We were all celebrating. It’s like a New Year’s Eve-type thing. Everybody’s just getting wasted.” Cudi also hinted at possibly shooting another clip for the song, this time with MGMT and Ratatat.

Meanwhile, as Rolling Stone previously reported, Cudi and Drake will face off Grammy night on January 31st in both the Best Rap Song and Best Rap Solo Performance categories — Drake for “Best I Ever Had” and Cudi for “Day N Nite.”
