  • No more business time for New Zealand comic duo Flight of the Conchords, who announced they will not be returning for a third season of their eponymous HBO series on their http://flightoftheconchords.co.nz/2009/12/december-10th/" target="blank">official Website (via The Daily Swarm). “We’re very proud of the two seasons we made and we like the way the show ended,” explain Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement.

  • Metal legend Ronnie James Dio, who was recently diagnosed with the early stages of stomach cancer, has endured his first series of treatments at the Mayo Clinic, Blabbermouth reports. His wife and manager Wendy Dio says, “Ronnie and I are totally overwhelmed by the amount of well wishes that we have received from friends and fans…[it] makes Ronnie even more determined to fight this battle and win.”
  • R&B chanteuse Brandy appears on Timbaland’s forthcoming album Shock Value 2, but is listed in the album’s credits under her hip-hop alias Bran’ Nu. http://www.allhiphop.com/stories/news/archive/2009/12/10/22061792.aspx" Target="blank">AllHipHop reports Brandy spits on the track “Meet in the Middle,” and she reveled in the experience: “I got a chance to be another part of myself.”

  • A new track from Neutral Milk Hotel’s Jeff Mangum, called “Sign the Dotted Line” appears on a charity compilation benefiting Tall Dwarfs’ Chris Knox, who suffered a life-altering stroke at his home in New Zealand last June. The disc, out on Merge, also features contributions from Yo La Tengo, The Mountain Goats, and Jay Reatard.
  • Music historian and the author of Black Music of Two Worlds John Storm Roberts has died at 73 from complications from a blood clot, the New York Times reports.
