Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood has been given a caution by British police after being arrested on suspicion of assault earlier this month. As Rolling Stone previously reported, Wood was picked up December 3rd after a “domestic incident” with his 21-year-old girlfriend Ekaterina Ivanova spilled out onto Claygate High Street. Wood was released on bail until a January court date, but it appears he’ll just receive a simple caution as an alternative to facing charges, the BBC reports. Cautions are often used to reprimand first-time offenders and remain on a criminal record for five years, even without a conviction.

“I am greatly relieved that this matter is resolved and look forward to 2010 very positively,” Wood said in a statement. While there wasn’t much Rolling Stones news in 2009, 62-year-old Wood kept himself in the tabloids this year by engaging in an adulterous affair with Ivanova, which ultimately led to Wood’s divorce from his wife of 24 years, Jo. Just weeks after the divorce was settled in November, Wood and Ivanova made headlines with the public dispute, and the two are reportedly no longer together.

Musically, Wood was also on hand when his former Jeff Beck Group bandmate Jeff Beck was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, plus Wood took part in a near-Faces reunion in late October at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
